How can I tell if my uncle has been taking drugs?

How can I tell if my uncle has been taking drugs?
http://aboutcrystalmeth.com/?post_type=post&p=2928
Question by Danielle: How can I tell if my uncle has been taking drugs? My uncle was on injected "speed" drugs for 30 years and was in and out of rehab and mental institutions for years. Now he apparently quit and moved in with us. He mopes around and pretends that he is "ill" when my grandmother (his mother) is around, and treats her like a servant. He lies on the couch all day watching tv and always makes a mess of the house, my grandmother cleans up after him and makes excuses. He drinks a lot. Last night he had to stay at his old house for the first time in 5 years because an electrician had to come over. He came back today and slept until 5pm. He usually goes to bed at 7pm and gets up at 7am. When my grandmother asked why he was asleep so late he said he had been awake all night. I suspect that he has been using drugs again. His eyes are bright red and his pupils are small, his eyes are wide constantly. Also he used to twitch a lot but it's stopped. Has he been taking drugs again? How can I find out for sure? How do you get someone into drug treatment programs?

How do you get someone into drug treatment programs?
http://drugtreatmentcenterscoloradosprings.com/?post_type=post&p=3720
Question by Sheryl S: How do you get someone into drug treatment programs? Anyone have any suggestions on coping with a family member who denies they are a crack user? I have someone who desperately needs to get treatment, but flatly denies the addiction and accuses everyone else of being "liars." He is truly paranoid and it's frightening just to try to talk to him. We are at wit's end in our family and are scared. Appreciate all suggestions -- no spam or sarcasm please, this is a serious family matter and we want to help the person. None of us have experience in this arena. Oh no! I have posted this in the wrong category. My apologies to everyone. But a big thank you to all who were kind enough to resond. All answers were good and deserving of "Best Answer." Only one person, DougF, saw fit to criticize me but pointed out my shortcomings in making an error on my posting. DougF, have you ever made an error in your lifetime? If not, you must be a very special individual. Again, I apologize -- not sure what I did wrong because I was reading Photography, then went on to ask my question. I could have sworn I chose Family & Relationships as category but I musn;t have exited Photography correctly. Best to all! Best answer:

I think everyone has one in their family. Have you tried an intervention as seen on TV. They seem to work for some people who are at their wits end, when you get to this point it's about the only thing left to do, I've seen people on this show who I thought were hopeless, and it worked for them, they would show the person a year later, and wow what a difference, I'm very sorry for you and your family. Check with your local programs and see if they have this or know of anyone who does. Have you tried to write to the show maybe they could help, that's what their there for, and this way you wouldn't have to put out money that you probably don't have.

What is the thesis statement of this paragraph?

What is the thesis statement of this paragraph?
http://drugtreatmentcenterscoloradosprings.com/?post_type=post&p=3716
Question by leona2000: What is the thesis statement of this paragraph? I have to critique an informative essay and this is the first paragraph. What is the thesis statement, please? In recent times, many researches have been conducting on therapy and treatment options available for people who are substance (drugs and alcohol) abusers, and these have come a long way from the older treatment options (e.g. Glasscote et al, 1972). These observations have led the researchers to believe that drug addiction and alcoholism are not just primarily a physical ailment but it is also complemented heavily by environmental factors. Alcoholics and drug abusers tend to follow a specific pattern and we find that many of the people who have alcoholic tendencies come from their genetic makeup (Crabbe, 2002). Yet, even though there are some genetic influences that come into play, the abuse is fed by the abuser's immediate environmental factors, such as the attitudes of the family, friends, and support groups. The genetic side of this ailment explains how there are metabolic, structural, and neuro-chemical malfunctions in the brain that causes a person to become addicted to the drugs, which are supplemented by the environmental factors such as the various home, psychological, and social dynamics that the person experiences in his or her life. These two factors are bi-directional, which means that they both interact and conflict with each other in making the symptoms of alcoholism stronger in a person.
